Terms of Engagement
Welcome to the legal foundation of our partnership. When you commission Cog & Canvas for digital illustration services, you're not just buying a drawing; you're investing in a bespoke technical asset. Our terms are designed to protect both the integrity of our studio's industrial aesthetic and your commercial interests.
How do we ensure the highest standards? By defining every milestone. From the initial Procreate sketch to the final high-resolution render, we operate on a strictly defined project lifecycle. We've found that 17 years combined experience in industrial drafting only works when expectations are documented upfront. We don't like surprises, and we know you don't either.
Project Initiation & Proofing
No project begins without a signed Statement of Work. This document outlines the technical drawings required, the intended branding application, and the specific editorial context. You'll receive two rounds of major revisions. Any further tweaks? Those fall under our hourly studio rate. It's a system that keeps the momentum going while respecting the meticulous detail our artists put into every mechanical gear and technical line.
Usage & Commercial Rights
Who owns the art? Upon full payment of the project invoice, Cog & Canvas grants you a worldwide, perpetual license for the agreed-upon commercial use. However, we're proud of what we build. Therefore, we retain the right to showcase the artwork in our portfolio and professional marketing materials. It's how we keep the lights on and attract more incredible clients like you.
Note: Specialized industrial motifs and custom brushwork developed during the project remain the intellectual property of Cog & Canvas. We're licensing the result, not the tools.
What if you need to extend the license later? We've made it simple. If your marketing campaign expands or you decide to use an editorial piece for global branding, just drop us an email at info@takano.info. We'll verify the usage rights and update the agreement faster than a Procreate time-lapse.
Liability & Performance
We're humans using digital precision tools. While we strive for absolute accuracy in technical drawings, the client is responsible for final verification of technical specifications if the art is used in industrial manuals. We provide the vision; you provide the technical sign-off. Is that fair? We believe so, as it ensures the safety and accuracy of your end products.
Payment terms are standard Net 15. Late payments pause production because, let's be honest, we're a small studio that values promptness. // Future me: sorry about this bluntness, but it's necessary for the legal guys.
